The Diploma

The $99 registration is a printed diploma, mailed to you in a protective holder. The $19 registration is everything except the printed object. This page is what the printed object actually is.

What Is on It

  • Your dog's registered name, set across the middle of the page between the certifying wording and the title being granted. It is the name you type during registration, exactly as you type it.
  • The date of issuance, written out in words rather than numerals: "GIVEN THIS THIRTEENTH DAY OF AUGUST" and the year in full.
  • The gold foil seal, stamped from a die after the sheet is printed. It is the raised, reflective part of the object.
  • Two signatures. The President of the Association and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, on ruled lines either side of the seal.
  • The Association's name across the head of the page in blackletter, and the wording that does the certifying: upon the recommendation of the President, under the authority of the Board of Trustees.

The Seal Is Foil, Not Ink

The seal is gold foil applied over red after printing, from a die cut for this Association. It is the reason the object does not photograph flat: the gold is reflective and slightly raised, so it moves as the sheet moves and it looks different under a lamp than it does by a window.

A printed imitation of foil is the usual way this is done and it is cheaper. This is not that. If you have handled a diploma or a share certificate with a real stamped seal, it is that.

The film above is a real diploma under a moving light, shot for this page. It has been reduced to fit, never enlarged, and it has not been sharpened, relit or colour graded.

What Is Not on It

Your dog's photograph is not printed on the diploma, and there is no version of this product where it is. The photograph is digital: it appears on the public registry profile, in the newest-dogs gallery and on your account. The diploma carries the foil, the name, the date and the signatures, and nothing else.

That is also why the photograph is optional during registration. It changes nothing about what gets printed.

What Arrives, and When

The diploma is mailed in a protective holder. Orders are printed in batches, so the diploma is not printed the day you order: your registration stays changeable for 12 days, and the order is sent to production once that window closes. You are given an estimated delivery date at checkout and the same date in your confirmation email, and you are emailed again with a tracking number when it ships.

Rush production is available at checkout for orders that cannot wait: it shortens the change window to 24 hours and sends the order to production the next day.

The Digital Registration

At $19 you get the register entry, the license number, the certificate PDF and 2 years of licensure. Nothing is mailed and no diploma is printed. The register entry is identical: a digital registration is not a lesser record.
